Yet, electric shavers are very soft to your skin as the blade does not directly touch the skin, but is protected by a thin foil that goes in between the cutting element and your skin. Whether you would like to shave wet or dry is completely up to you. Most Braun shavers are designed to be used wet & dry. Please check that your shaver has this feature if you would like to use it with shaving cream or shave under the shower.

Simply apply the gel or foam in the same way as you would when shaving with a manual razor. Ensure all shaving areas are evenly covered, turn the power on, then start shaving in strokes - up and down. After shaving, please clean your shaver thoroughly from gel or foam. All Braun shavers are 100% waterproof. If your shaver comes with a SmartCare Center, this is the best solution to keep your shaver hygienically clean. The alcohol-based solution of the SmartCare Center cleans more hygienically than water, removing residual hair and skin particles that cumulate after every shave. Alternatively, you can clean your shaver simply by rinsing the shaver head under running water after each use and then dry thoroughly. If cleaning your shaver under running water, best detach the shaver head from the body and clean both parts separately. We also recommend that your regularly oil your shaver head.

To keep 100% performance, we recommend to change your shaver head every 18 months. Since the shaving foil and the below running cutter operate like the two parts of a pair of scissors, they inevitably wear out after so much high performance.

Both blade razors and electric shavers may deliver the comfortable, close shave we’re all after but there are various factors that can come into play such as the quality of razor/shaver being used. Electric shavers have come a long way over the years and a quality Braun electric shaver can provide a very close shave. The advantage of an electric shaver is that it does not require water or foam and therefore is not as messy. Some Braun electric shavers (depending on models) can be used Wet and Dry if preferred. Many find electric shavers to be a more convenient option while still allowing them to obtain a very close shave. In the end, it comes down to personal choice.

All Braun shavers are watertight which means the shaver head can be rinsed under running water for easy cleaning. A Braun shaver foil and cutter can last up to 18 months, depending on:

• your shaving method;

• your beard type/ beard density;

• good cleaning and maintenance of the foil/cutter cassette.

To maintain maximum performance and a close, comfortable shave, we recommend you replace the foil and cutter:
if visual inspection before each use shows any nicks, dents or wear patterns;
if the performance of the shaver begins to decline;
after a maximum of 18 months use.
Here are some tips to get the most out of each foil:
Use light pressure when shaving. Pressing too hard can shorten the lifetime and cause damage to the foil.
If you have a thicker beard, you may be shaving longer each day which can reduce the lifetime of the foil.
Hold the shaver at a 90 degree angle.
Regularly clean and oil the foil. Proper maintenance will help prolong the foil’s lifetime.
When travelling with the shaver or taking it to the gym etc. please be sure to protect the foil.
Please do not use a damaged foil, as it can lead to injuries on the skin. The foils should be inspected visually for nicks, dents and wear patterns before each use.
